Business Development Manager
Job Title: Business Development Manager
Reports To: The Managing Director
Function: Business Development
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, engineering or related field. MBA would be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Acquisition: Identify and target potential clients, both locally and regionally, leveraging the firm’s expertise to offer tailored solutions
- Client Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships through regular engagement.
- Revenue Generation: Drive revenue growth by identifying cross-selling and upselling opportunities within the existing client base.
- Strategic Planning: Support and inform company growth planning activities. Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy in collaboration with the senior management team.
- Market Research: Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to inform business strategies and identify potential opportunities.
- Bid Preparations: Collaborate with technical teams to prepare compelling proposals and presentations showcasing the firm’s capabilities and innovative solutions. Ensure timely and responsive proposals are prepared and submitted as per requests for proposals or expressions of interest.
- Opportunity Management: Manage new and existing opportunities to optimize financial and service placement objectives while keeping customers keen to contract the company.
- Sales Targets: Meet or exceed win targets.
- Customer Relationship Management: Ensure client satisfaction from initial contact through to project completion.
- Market Representation: Attend major industry conferences and exhibitions, representing the firm’s products, capabilities, and reputation.
Skills/Experience Required:
- Proven track record in business development, relationship building, and sales within an engineering or consultancy environment.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to conduct market research and analyse industry trends.
- Experience in proposal development and technical presentations.
- Strategic thinking and planning abilities.
- Excellent client management and relationship-building skills.
